Basic data
I was born on March 16th, 1944 in Zagreb. In 1962 I graduated from a secondary grammar school for classical languages in Zagreb. Under menthorship of the professor Svetozar Kurepa I achieved all three of my academic degrees: BSc on November 16th, 1966 with thesis "Group representations and its applications in the elementary particle symmetry theory"; MSc on November 6th, 1968 with thesis "Induced represenations of locally compact groups and some applications". Finally, on February 28th, 1973 I obtained my Ph.D. degree with thesis "Representations of the group SU(n,1) and its universal covering group".
Research interests
My main research interest is in the representation theory of Lie groups and Lie algebras, especially represenations of semisimple and reductive Lie groups and algebras. In addition, I have also been involved in functional analysis, more precisely, operator algebra theory.
Academic positions
During my career I have been employed at the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb as a:
- Assistant, 1966–1973
- Assistant professor, 1973–1976
- Associate professor, 1976–1981
- Full professor, 1981–1998
Since the beginning of 2004 I have been a full professor at the Department of Mathematics for the second time. Furthermore, since 1992 I have been a correspondant of Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
