About the project

Regularly varying functions and distributions are one of the key concepts and tools in various areas of pure and applied mathematics ranging from number theory to statistical inference. The project aims to develop mathematical foundations suitable for study of general forms of the regular variation and apply its findings in analysis, probability and statistical inference. The project concentrates on five sets of problems in particular

  • Point process interpretation of generalised regular variation;
  • Set-valued regular variation;
  • Applications of set-valued regular variation;
  • Regular variation of metric spaces and trees;
  • Limit theorems for regularly varying sets and functions.
